Nuon is an energy company whose 5,800 FTEs serve around approximately 2.6 million consumers, businesses and (public) organisations in the Netherlands. Nuon produces and supplies gas, electricity, heat and cooling and offers its customers a wide range of energy-saving products and services. Nuon seeks to provide reliable, affordable and clean energy while working to distinguish itself as a sustainable entrepreneur. We aspire to achieve balanced growth for all our stakeholders: customers, employees, shareholders, the environment, as well as society at large.

Nuon has been part of the Vattenfall Group since 1 July 2009 and forms Vattenfall’s Business Group Benelux. However, Nuon’s wind and trading activities are organisationally integrated into Vattenfall’s Business Group Pan Europe and business unit Trading respectively. This structure, however, changed on 1 January 2011, reflecting the new strategic direction announced by Vattenfall.

The parent company of Nuon is Vattenfall AB. Vattenfall, which is whollyowned by the Swedish state, is one of the largest generators of electricity and the largest producer of heat in Europe. In 2010, it conducted operations in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, the Netherlands and Belgium. In September 2010, Vattenfall labelled Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands as its core countries as part of a new strategic direction.
