  • July 01, 2011| Amsterdam- Second tranche Nuon shares transferred to Vattenfall

    Today Vattenfall AB acquired the second tranche of shares (15 percent) from the Dutch shareholders of N.V. Nuon Energy. With this transfer Vattenfall acquired in total 64 percent of the Nuon shares. Vattenfall already had operational control over Nuon since 1 July 2009 when Vattenfall acquired the first tranche of shares (49 percent).

  • June 21, 2011| Amsterdam- Heat production Sun Island Almere exceeds expectations

    A year ago the Sun Island, located in the Dutch city of Almere, was taken into service. During the past 12 months this innovative district heating project produced 10 percent more heat than calculated. The surface area of the Sun Island is 7,000 m2, equivalent to one and a half football pitches. It provides partially the heat for the district heating network of the adjacent new housing area Noorderplassen-West.

  • June 06, 2011| Amsterdam- Vattenfall intends to invest 1 billion euro in French hydropower

    Vattenfall is prepared to invest up to one billion euro in renewable energy in France when the country offers hydropower concessions later this year. France is one of Vattenfall’s growth markets. Earlier this week Vattenfall opened a new office in Paris, thus emphasising its long-term strategic interest in the country. Sweden’s Vattenfall is active in the Netherlands through its Dutch subsidiary Nuon.

    Vattenfall, the Swedish parent company of Nuon, is one of the partners in a pioneering wind energy centre off the Scottish shores. The European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre (EOWDC) will provide a platform to deploy and demonstrate new concepts, products and services in offshore wind whilst enabling research in this new sector – ideal for a partnership with Europe’s renewables industry, academia and research community.
